Introduction
Programming for gifted and talented
students is a mandated function in the state of Iowa (Iowa Code Chapter 59) for
students in grades K-12. It requires local Boards of Education to include the
following program components in their respective service models:

Provision of valid, systematic and
multiple criteria for identification

Defined program goals and
performance measures
-
A specified and differentiated
curricular program for identified students
-
Annual review and evaluation
procedures
-
A program budget
-
Specifically endorsed instructional
personnel
