Coach Belby has been the head boys cross country coach at Pleasant Valley High School since the 1995 season.  He has also served as the head or assistant boys track & field coach since the 1996 season.  Prior to taking over the head track & field coaching duties in 1999, Coach Belby served as an assistant for three years under legendary Head Coach Leroy Wichers.  Mr.  Belby has also been a mathematics teacher at PV since 1995.

During Coach Belby's 17 seasons as coach, the Spartans have had at least one runner in the state meet 16 times.  The Spartans qualified for the Iowa State Cross Country Championships for the first time in school history during the 1995 season.  Since then, they have competed as a team in 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003-2011.   The 2006, 2007, and 2008 teams won State Titles.

Coach Belby competed for the Rock Island Rocks during high school and the Augustana College Vikings as an undergrad.  Mr. Belby currently holds a BA from Augustana College and a MS in Sport Management from Western Illinois University.  He is also certified as a USATF Level 1 Coach.  The Iowa Association of Track Coaches selected Erik Belby as the cross country coach of the year in 2006 and the track & field coach of the year in 2008.

Mark Wilson returns to the PVHS coaching staff this year as assistant cross country coach.  Mark teaches 5th grade at Pleasant View Elementary School.  Prior to joining the cross country staff, Coach Wilson worked with the tennis team. 

Former Pleasant Valley standout, Dan White, has returned to his alma mater as an assistant cross country coach.  Coach White ran cross country and track for PV.  Dan is a physical therapist at Rock Valley. 

Nic Sacco is serving as an assistant coach at PV for the his second season.  He is a graduate of Alleman High School.  Coach Sacco has recently become an ultra running enthusiast.  He is also a math teacher at the high school.
