Pleasant Valley Orchestral Strings
For
many years the Pleasant Valley Community School District has considered the
formation of an orchestral strings program as the missing link in completing
it's music course offerings. In 2001 the voters approved a referendum giving
final approval to the development of an orchestral strings program. Robert
Swinney was hired as Orchestra Director in 2002 and work began to
acquire grant money for the purchase of instruments. Students began enrolling in
three separate string classes in August and the Orchestral Strings program was
introduced into the Fine Arts Curriculum for the 2002-2003 school year with 112
students registered. We have been growing ever since.
